Michael Brennan Wins Baycurrent Classic for Third PGA Tour Title
The 24-year-old closed with a 68, parring his final six holes, to edge Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell by one shot at Yokohama Country Club.
Michael Brennan closed with a 3-under 68, parring his final six holes under pressure, to win the Baycurrent Classic by one stroke and collect the third PGA Tour title of a career that began in earnest only last year.
Brennan finished at 16-under 268 at Yokohama Country Club, edging Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell, who tied for second at 15-under, according to the tournament's final leaderboard posted by the PGA Tour. It was the 24-year-old's second win of the season, following his victory at the Wyndham Championship in August, and his third on tour overall in just 33 career starts, a rapid ascent for a player who turned professional after a college career at Wake Forest.
"Unbelievable. It was an unbelievable week," Brennan said afterward, according to a tour recap of the final round. He had briefly stumbled with a bogey on the 10th hole, he said, before steadying himself with consecutive birdies on 11 and 12. His best moment of the back nine came on the par-3 16th, where he escaped a greenside bunker to a foot from the cup to save par and protect his lead.
Bridgeman, who shot a final-round 69, had a chance to force a playoff but missed a five-foot birdie attempt on the 17th hole and then left a 55-foot birdie putt on the last green four feet short. Mitchell, who had led by two strokes at one point in the final round, also shot 68 but could not convert several late chances of his own. Defending champion Xander Schauffele finished tied for fourth at 13-under after a double bogey on the 18th hole, where he drove into the trees lining the fairway; he said afterward that he had "played good enough golf to win this tournament." Hideki Matsuyama, who won the event in 2021, finished tied for 21st at 9-under after a final-round 67.
The win was worth $1,440,000 to Brennan, according to a breakdown of payouts and FedExCup points the tour published after the final round, points that strengthen his position heading into the circuit's postseason-adjacent fall swing. The tournament, held October 8-11 on the hilly Yokohama course southwest of Tokyo, is one of several events on the PGA Tour's fall schedule that the circuit has staged in Asia this autumn as it looks to grow its international footprint outside the traditional January-to-September core season.
Brennan's rise has been notably fast even by the standards of a tour that regularly produces breakout seasons. He also won the Bank of Utah Championship last year, giving him three victories across two seasons on tour, and he now ranks among the hottest players in the field heading into the fall events. For a player who entered 2026 known mainly to hardcore golf followers, two wins in the same season have pushed him into the conversation for one of the tour's most improved players.
Attention in Japan now turns to whether Brennan's win changes his status for next season's full-field events, and whether Schauffele can turn his close call in Yokohama into momentum elsewhere on tour. The PGA Tour's fall swing continues with events moving back toward the mainland United States in the coming weeks, before the circuit breaks for the winter and resumes its full schedule in January.
