Austin Smotherman beat Seamus Power on the third playoff hole to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, his second PGA Tour win in three weeks after the Bank of Utah Championship on Oct. 4.
The tournament was shortened to 54 holes after 40-mph wind gusts made Port Royal Golf Course unplayable, scrapping Sunday's final round entirely and pushing the playoff to Monday morning.
Smotherman earned $1.08 million, 500 FedExCup Fall points and a U.S. Open exemption; runner-up Seamus Power, the 2022 champion, took home $654,000 and 300 points.

Austin Smotherman beat Seamus Power with a two-putt par on the third extra hole Monday morning to win the weather-shortened Butterfield Bermuda Championship, a sudden-death finish that needed three trips up the par-3 16th hole at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda. Officials recut the hole closer to the tee for the third attempt after both players made par there twice; Smotherman's tee shot settled inside 14 feet, and Power, after missing the green and chipping past the hole, missed his par putt to end it. The two had finished regulation tied at 16 under par, 197, after wind gusts topping 40 mph made the seaside course unplayable Sunday, when none of the 72 players who made the cut were able to start their final round at all. Officials called off the round entirely hours after its scheduled start, shortened the tournament to 54 holes, and moved the playoff to Monday morning.

It is Smotherman's second PGA Tour title in three weeks. The 2016 SMU graduate, a former college teammate of Bryson DeChambeau, broke through for his first career win at the Bank of Utah Championship on Oct. 4, closing with a 68 for a 26-under total and a two-stroke victory over Doug Ghim. Bermuda now gives him two Tour wins in the same fall swing, along with $1.08 million and 500 FedExCup Fall points from the tournament's $6 million purse, plus an exemption into next year's U.S. Open that comes with the playoff win.

Power, an Irishman who won this same title in 2022, had entered the week 103rd in the FedExCup Fall standings, with a win there positioned to lock up his PGA Tour card through 2028; he instead settled for $654,000 and 300 points as the runner-up. Taylor Moore, Corey Conners and Ben Silverman tied for third at 14 under, a shot back of the co-leaders. Both Smotherman and Power are entered in next week's Mexico Open at Vidanta World.
